The Olympus 9-18mm lens for Micro Four Thirds Compact System Cameras has been released in February 2010 and ever since has been one of the wide angle zoom lens available for the Micro Four Thirds Compact System Cameras together with the Panasonic 7-14mm F4.0 lens.

This lens is a lightweight zoom weighing 155 grams with a diameter of 57mm , length of 50mm and uses a filter thread size of 52mm. Although it is not a stellar lens compared to the Panasonic 7-14mm lens it provides decent results and has been popular with photographers interested in architecture, landscapes and street photography.

With the release of the Olympus OM-D EM-5 the lens started to present challenges to that camera model users giving some issues in terms of its focus speed and continuous shooting. To address those issues Olympus promptly issued a firmware upgrade for the lens being now version 1.1. The new firmware version of the Olympus 9-18mm lens can be found at Olympus Support Site.
